The sports media dubbed them The Mod Squad, for their "Showtime before there was Showtime" style of play, and their game-changing sartorial style on the road. It was 1969 and they were straight out of nowhere, powered by psychedelic soul.
From the smallest division one school in the NCAA, the JU Dolphins took their own playful brand of basketball revolution all the way to the Final Four of March Madness 1970.
And waiting for the Mod Squad in the Finals would be - none other than the Wizard of Westwood and seemingly invincible UCLA.
